This is a powerful article outlining many key aspects around Digital Identity. An important comment by the author is how we must learn from the good and bad lessons reflected by Estonia’s D.I. We don’t accumulate technical debt in our business or government institutions. The education aspects around D.I is what interests me the most. Consider that humans will own their data and what does that actually mean. It’s the first time we’ve introduced an ownership model around digital data and privacy. It’s like re-introducing privacy as a constitutional right but in the digital world. We have so easily given away our power around personal data and privacy, therefore, a lot of work will need to be done in order for people to understand why this is necessary and what it means to the future of owning digital assets.
